But can we have some quality-control for eBook formattingBy James RasmussenTad Williams' Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn series is, as always, one of the great epic fantasy series that any fan of fantasy should read, and has been since the late 80's. Everyone should read this... but maybe get it in print.Sadly, whatever method was used to translate this book (and the rest of the series) into electronic format resulted in a staggering number of typos. If you've read the book before, they can be glossed over. If you haven't, they will make this a somewhat difficult read. These range from changing the chapter title "A Thousand Nails" to "A Thousand Naifs," to utterly butchering the composition of the SIthi language. Issues with italicization also abound. It's still a great story. One of the best, in fact. But if you're a stickler for correctness, don't encourage this kind of sloppiness by buying the eBook.6 of 6 people found the following review helpful.A true classic!By Tiger RoseI've been wanting to read this for some time, after seeing it on so many "Best" lists. Good thing one of those posters warned the readers that it starts off S-L-O-W-L-Y, because even though it was so highly recommended, I almost gave up on it.Boy, was I glad I didn't! At a certain point, the story (finally) "starts", and it is very much worth the read, I'm glad to say.. I'm currently in the 2nd book, "The Stone of Farewell". I'm reading it on the Kindle app, but I must have this for my own library - a worthy addition, I believe.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.that's simply because it's one of the greatest fantasy stories ever printed on paperBy CustomerThere are quite a few negative reviews on here about The Dragonbone Chair but don't let that dissuade. There is a reason George R.R. Martin and Patrick Rothfuss have written glowing reviews of the book and the Green Angel Tower series, that's simply because it's one of the greatest fantasy stories ever printed on paper. It is slow and can at times be tedious but if you've ever read classic books before the turn of the century you can probably imagine the sort of pacing that I'm describing. I believe the slow pace is deliberate to give an idea of the kind of the idyllic lifestyle the main character and those around him are accustomed. In contrast fight scenes are far more jarring due to the frenzied speed of them. Unlike just about any fantasy book I had read prior to this as a kid it taught me a lesson that I'm not likely to forget now that I'm older; that being, to not trust everything you're told no matter how much you want to believe. Those that hate this book, I can only imagine, didn't have the patience to learn from a master who teaches hard lessons in the guise of a fantasy novel.See all 465 customer reviews...
