KenneyI really enjoyed the Death Series, so was looking forward to reading The Blood Singer. I mostly enjoyed the book, the story is engaging and I was interested in the main character, Julia. I did notice some discrepancies in a few details througout the book, but I can usually overlook those. What made me lower my rating to three stars was that Julia fainted at the mere hint of a problem. Every time something started to go wrong, down she went. It went from a dramatic detail to a farce - at least to me. I would like to see this book reedited with the little details straightened out, and the fainting eliminated.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful.Typical but also somewhat different YA paranormalBy phoenix2000This is a paranormal book with vampires, werewolves and beings called singers. The female protagonist is the savior of their kind, all of them. I didn't mind the alternating points of view. Nearly every character in the story had one. The heroine had special offensive powers but seldom used them. She just fainted a lot. and was rescued a lot. But that didn't stop her from running off more than once even though she knew a number of dangerous creatures were stalking her.What was interesting, there was no clear cut group of villains. Each group of paranormals had a hero and likable female. You just couldn't pick a side. The heroine was drawn to a male in each faction. At first it took me a little time to get use to but, enjoyed it because I was able to see everything from each persons perspectives.Julia is fun and in love. She can't wait to fall in Jason's arms as his wife once school finishes. She's quirky, fun, loving, and easy going. So far I'm not sure about her character. She needs more of a backbone but she is human after all or is sheJason is totally in love with Julia. He is counting the moments til they wed. He'd do anything for her. They seem to be on different sides of the track.Jules best friend Addy. She's fun, loving, yet cocking. One thing for sure she loves her best friend.Then they wed and before they consummate their marriage their world is turned upside down. Things are t what they seem and their pushed into a world they didn't know existed.Once their world turned upside down the emotional roller coaster began! Be prepared to experience all emotions. You will not want to put this book down.This series puts an amazing twist on such a diversity in the paranormal world. It explains the battles that all diversity struggle with even in their world. I found that interesting.There where flashbacks within the story that gave you an overall picture of the back story so it made it easier to follow. There was so much drama and active with such unusual plots that it was easy to keep you intrigued through out the entire book. I'm not sure why some maybe confused from all the different POV. This is awesome. Why wait a long time for a different POV when you can lose some of what's going on from a past read. The flow was impeccably smooth.
